4 Rules to Pack for Road Trip
I have three essential luggage on my packing list for road-trip getaways.
One of them is the carry-on that I take to the hotel room and includes everything from pajamas, clothes, panties, bras, toiletry, etc. My carry-on is fabulous. It’s like magic because when I leave home I take only the necessary items, but during my journey I get all kind of souvenirs, gifts, or extra clothes. Well, my carry-on is expandable and I can convert it to a check-in bag. So convenience.
The beauty case is always inside the car, and I use it only when I have to go to a restaurant or stop at a gas station. The beauty case has everything I need to be always beautiful and clean with items (travel size) such as deodorant, makeup, lipsticks, hand cream, dental floss, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, face powder, supplements.
The beauty case always stays in the car. I already have the same items in the carry-on, and that’s the one that goes to hotel rooms.
Doing things like this, you avoid wasting your time digging for stuff in the carry-on. The beauty case gives easy accessibility to items you may need on the go.
The Shopper Tote
has a change of clothes including shoes or sandals; socks, sweaters, and underwear. The carry-on stays at the hotel. The shopper tote is always in the car. Its purpose is to provide a change of clothes in case I need it between one location to another.
On a road trip, my purse is small and contains only my credit cards and legal documents. That’s it. I don’t carry everywhere I go a bunch of stuff. That way, I am always hands-free; I walk comfortable and ready for any sport or extreme activities.
2. Inside the Car
Women are more sensitive to cold. I am susceptible so I keep a lovely fleece inside the car in case of cold nights, or when the husband lows AC temperature. Check my favorite here.
Fall brings beautiful days and cold nights. That’s why it’s essential to have blankets, and you can give them multiple uses; sleeping in the car, cover things in the car, or picnic blanket, etc.
When a road trip is long, passengers take naps. I use an excellent sleeping mask that is comfortable and allows me to listen to my favorite bluegrass music while my husband is listening to the country music.
It’s so important to have a cooler capable of plugging into the cigarette lighter. It keeps water bottles, drinks, cheese sticks, and snacks at the right temperature without ice. Dealing with ice means that later on you have to deal with water I include my Keto-friendly granola because I am on a keto diet. A bottle of Apple cider vinegar to use in case of heartburn or indigestion, lemons, and stevia.
It’s always necessary a First Aid Kit with everything we might need in case of pain, headaches, allergies, etc.
Never count on your GPS only, because chances are that you lose signals in certain areas. That’s what happened on our Black Hills getaway. Before even pack for road trip, my husband always study the map and routes to take before heading to our destination.
I know! You have every contact storage on your phone. But if you get out of signal areas, phones go crazy. You won’t believe how important it is having available an address notebook in case of going off the grid or lose battery..
3. Triple A Card Information
At the moment to pack for road trip remember The Automobile Association of America offers the Triple A or AAA. It is well-known for its emergency road help. Whether your car has mechanical issues, a flat tire, you lock your keys inside the vehicle, run out of fuel, their 24-hour road service will assist you.
When we were in North Carolina, we didn’t have it. Todd’s mom gave it to him as a gift, and it was the best gift ever. We used it a while after in North Dakota when the belt car broke in the middle of nowhere and with a blizzard coming toward us. The best service ever. Check here
4. Car registration, insurance and IDs.
The idea is to head to your weekend getaway with everything you might need but without taking the whole house inside the car.
