I’ve been in sales for over a decade, and I am an enthusiastic entrepreneur. I have failed and succeeded. Either way, I’ve learned valuable lessons, and today, I can share them with you.
While not everything I list out here will be my only advice about products to sell, many of these are excellent products for those who don’t have any previous experience in sales. That’d been said, these are some items I sold for years and I did to make extra money.
Make Extra Money to Travel
Some examples are quilting, knitting, making jewelry, candles, soaps, etc. If you have a skill to craft, it is time to put your hands and imagination to work. Buy materials, create, make your products, and grow an initial inventory with your handiwork
Candles and soaps are exceptional items to sell. Create different designs, shapes, and scents. The secret is to add your personal taste, making the final product a unique piece that nobody else has. This way, your crafts will stand out from the crowd. There are thousands of people making high income selling these items.
Jewelry is also a great thing to sell and make extra money, and it’s appreciated it. Bracelets, pendants, and wire names are high-selling items.
When it comes to where to sell, you’ll have different options:
- Flea markets
- Facebook Page.
Etsy is an excellent option for craft, but wherever you sell your goodies, the real key to success will be to count with an aggressive, well-planned marketing strategy and salesperson in charge.
Let’s say you only sell at your local flea market because you don’t feel comfortable with technology and you are just a Artisan, right?. Well, that’s a beautiful idea. Getting a spot at the flea is very affordable, and summer is an excellent season, but you can’t avoid technology at all.
Otherwise, you would be 12 hours sitting at your stand, hungry, tired, sweaty, waiting for customers, and selling just a few items.
You need to sell and make a great extra money. Don’t avoid technology, and if you have a limited budget instead of a website, get a Facebook page. These pages work almost like a website. They are free and easy to set up. Post pictures of your kiosk, the table with products, and customers getting your art.
Share your Facebook page with family and friends. Instagram is awesome. Giveaways will bring more clients to your flea market spot, your Facebook page will get more followers, and high sales will bring money to your pocket.
Now, there is a critical aspect to consider when you sell in-store. Who will be the person in charge to sell? You may be an excellent artisan, but are you a salesperson?. There is a high possibility that if you are the creator or artist, you are not a good salesperson. Besides, you already invested valuable time making your products and by the time to sell that merchandise, chances are you already tired.
Instead, find a good salesperson. How do you find it? Easier than you think. Tell everybody you are looking for a salesperson and that you pay only commissions, not by the hour. Good commissions start at 25%, in this case, the salesperson has the chance to hustle and make money.
If someone asked for the job even though it is only by commissions, you may are dealing with an authentic salesperson. A person who is grabbing people to your stand with no fears, a person who talks, and make them laugh, a charming person who customers will love and buy from. Some creators can’t understand this principle, and they opt to sell their art themselves. Time always talks.
If you sell on Etsy though, an aggressive marketing strategy is a clue for success. You won’t have a real salesperson bringing traffic to your online store. But social media will do that job for you.
To conclude this idea, we can say that if we have the skill to create a craft, put all your efforts to make it unique, choose the right places to sell, the right people to sell it, and/or implement an aggressive marketing strategy. This way, you will make real extra money.
2- Sell Ebooks or Online Courses
Confidence might be in jeopardy right now. But before dismissing this idea, give yourself a second chance and take into consideration all the skills you have gained over the past years.
Whether you graduate from college, we all have knowledge about a particular matter that can be useful to others. Give yourself time to meditate, improve your writing skills, and start organizing your masterpiece.
Worry about your writing skills?.Worry no more. Some programs can help you to improve it. My top three favorites are:

My favorite is ProWritingAid. Its features and convenience price make it affordable and easy to use.
3 Selling T-shirts on Shopify
Sounds kind of annoying but it is actually a perfect business. Shopify has amazing dropship plugins so you can design your Tees and companies will print and send them to your customers. Focus on designs, marketing, and you will get a high income.
The good news is that the first 14 days are free. That will give you enough time to design and publish your site, do some marketing, and start selling. I love it
If you are the person who loves to cook for the family and they love you for that, it is time to take your skills to the next level and make extra money to travel on your next vacation.
This is summer, flea markets and farmers’ markets are open, and it isn’t expensive to get a spot. Cookies, pies, and cakes are irresistible to people.
My friend created a helpful Facebook page where she posted pictures of her stand at the farmers’ market. The photos showed a table with Cookies and Donuts, and you could see people craving and buying them. Total success.
5 Selling Art
Art is actually one of the greatest things to sell and make extra money to travel. If you have exceptional painting skills, there’s potential to sell online or at the Farmers Market. That means you could keep a regular job while selling your art.
My cousin started to sell his paintings on eBay when he was 16 years old. After two years, he’s making a great income. Using social media strategies, he created a community of followers that love and buy his art. Instagram, and Facebook are awesome. He is killing it.
